Medical Care and Drug Discovery Platforms
Hokkaido University has promoted the establishment of industry-university cooperation bases in the Future Drug Discovery and Medical Care Innovation Project under the Creation of Innovation Centers for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research Areas Program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Project for Developing Innovation Systems. Through this 10-year-long drug discovery and medical care R&D project, Drug Discovery and Medical Technology Platforms unique to Hokkaido University have been established as bases to support industry-university cooperation in these fields.
The Drug Discovery and Medical Technology Platforms established by Hokkaido University create R&D systems that connect the university’s basic R&D function in a seamless manner and integrate all stages from exploratory to clinical. They also create management systems for industry-university cooperation through the coordination function to enable organic coordination of necessary functions and integration of systems to support cooperation with companies, as well as systems to enable the use of state-of-the-art research equipment in the university.
These systems support industry-university cooperation in which Hokkaido University and companies jointly create future results and contribute to the dissemination of such results in society as products and services in more prompt and energy-saving manners.
